There’s something about warm peaches bubbling under a golden crust that feels like a hug in dessert form. When you add brown butter, the flavor becomes deeper, nuttier, and irresistibly rich. This Brown Butter Peach Cobbler is an easy, cozy, and delicious dessert — perfect for summer gatherings or whenever you crave a taste of comfort.
6 cups fresh peaches, sliced (or frozen, thawed and drained)
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
½ cup unsalted butter (to brown)
1 cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup sugar
1½ teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt¾ cup milk or buttermilk
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown and fragrant. Pour it into the baking dish.
In a bowl, mix peaches with sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt. Let sit for 10 minutes to release juices.
Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the melted brown butter in the dish.
In another bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk until smooth.
Pour the batter gently over the peaches without stirring.
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 40–45 minutes, until golden and bubbling. Cool for 10 minutes before serving warm with ice cream.
You can use canned or frozen peaches if fresh ones aren’t available.
